Concert at the Keswick ~ Duets

One of the best!  We saw David Bromberg and Jorma Kaukonen (with Barry Mitterhoff) in one of the best concerts I've seen in a long time!

Of course we were almost blinded by all the mother-of-pearl on those two Martin guitars!  Beeeaaaautiful!  I never thought I'd see Jorma play a Martin, though. I'm so used to him with a Gibson.  I mean... if he's not using that Gibson and he'd like to give to me... well... I'd be glad to take it off his hands.  I'm selfless that way.

I love David Bromberg with his Big Band - and I love David Bromberg with the Angel Band - AND I love David Bromberg with Jorma (and Barry), but I love David Bromberg best when it's just David and  his guitar.

Jorma and Barry started the first set and then David came out and joined them. (I think they're taking turns opening each night).  David started the second set solo and it was fantastic!  I don't think I've seen David in concert alone before, but you can bet that I'll be there if it ever happens again!

With Jorma AND David, it was a night of pure guitar picking heaven, but the crowd belonged to David Bromberg.  Every song was an audience sing-along.

There are times when David is playing and singing - and he stops singing for several words.  You can tell that he hears the missing words coming from the guitar. And so could we.

I think we have a few pictures.  I'll go through them and find a couple to post here.  Maybe Michael will add his two cents' worth also.

Quote(s) of the Week ~ 2010

May 23, 2010 - May 29, 2010
Today can be a healthy unusual day for you
and for others
if you take time to give someone a smile
to express a word of kindness
to lend a helping hand to someone in need
to write a note of gratitude
to give a word of encouragement to
someone who is temporarily overcome with problems
to share a portion of your material possessions with others.”
~William Arthur Ward~

May 9, 2010 - May 15, 2010
"For the morning sun in all it's glory
Greets the day with hope and comfort too
You fill my life with laughter
And somehow you make it better
Ease my troubles that's what you do"
Have I Told You Lately That I Love You
~Van Morrison ~

May 2, 2010 - May 8, 2010
"It's a brand new day
The sun is shining
It's a brand new day
For the first time
in such a long long time
I know
I'll be okay"

Brand New Day
~Joshua Radin~

"Forgiveness doesn't come with a debt."
~Mary Chapin Carpenter~

 April 18, 2010 - April 26, 2010
Work and live to serve others, to leave the world a little better than you found it and garner for yourself as much peace of mind as you can. This is happiness.
~David Sarnoff~

"I think I should have no other mortal wants, if I could always have plenty of music. It seems to infuse strength into my limbs, and ideas into my brain. Life seems to go on without effort, when I am filled with music."
~George Eliot~

April 11, 2010 - April 17, 2010
Go confidently in the direction of your dreams.
Live the life you have imagined.
~ Henry David Thoreau~

April 4, 2010 - April 10, 2010
Sounds of laughter,
shades of life
are ringing through
my opened ears,
inciting me, inviting me

Limitless undying love
which shines around me
like a million suns
it calls me on and on
across the universe

~John Lennon~

Websites(s) Of The Week

If you want to find a website that was previously posted on "Website of the Week" - this is the place to find it!

May 16, 2010 - May 22, 2010

Funny Typos - Grammar geeks will delight in Funny Typos, a site devoted to ridiculing the language-challenged among us. Why people cant menage to reed there writhing batter is simpy a misery to me.

Safety Graphic Fun - Do park visitors generally need to be told “Please do not sit on crocodile”? Must employees at a company parking lot be reminded “Do Not Sleep Below the Vehicle”? Silly as these things sound, they’re actual warnings posted on public safety signs. Safety Graphic Fun works to compile the most ridiculous placards, outlandish announcements, and attorney-inspired posterior papering from around the world, some of which are astonishingly absurd. My favorite: “Touching wires causes instant death. $200 fine.”

May 9, 2010 - May 15, 2010
Product Wiki - A Wickipedia-type product review website. All reviews and articles are written and updated by the site's users.

Colour Me Happy - Well, this one is a blog that's a personal favorite of mine. Everything you ever wanted to know about color and your home.

Dilbert - I love this cartoon! From here, you can see other Dilbert comic strips - visit the Dilbert bl0g - and even Mashups where you can help do some comic creation.

May 2, 2010 - May 8, 2010
Hershey - It's another gift-giving time of year. You know - the ol' flowers and candy thing. When I think of candy, I think of chocolate and when I think of chocolate. I think of Hershey's and when I think of Hershey's, I think of my grandmother who LOVED Hershey kisses. I feel a story coming... so I'll leave it at that! :) Enjoy!

SoYouWanna - This is a site to help you buy gifts that people really want. There are quite a few great links on this page. ('m not fussy - almost anything will do, but music always works for me.)

April 18, 2010 - April 24, 2010
WhichBook - A fun way to find something new to read. Slide your cursor along a variety of spectra (happy --> sad --> funny --> serious --> short --> long, etc.). The website does some calculations and spits out a list of title suggestions, complete with descriptions of the plot.

Freecycle - The Freecycle Network is made of of 4,775 groups with 7,090,000 members acroxx the globe. It's a grassroots and entirely nonprofit movement of people who are giving (& getting) stuff for free in their own towns. It's all about reuse and keeping good stuff out of landfills. Each local groups is moderated by a local volunteer. Membership is free.

April 11, 2010 - April 17, 2010
Toms Shoes- With every pair of shoes you purchase, TOMS will give a pair of new shoes to a child in need. One for One.

Red Envelope - Red Envelope claims to be "The place for unique and personalized gifts". I'm not sure it's THE place, but it's sure one of them. I love to look at all the great ideas there.

January through March
Draw a House ~ This one is addictive! Beware!

The Subservient Chicken - This site is sponsored by Burger King and it just cracks me up!

Neena's Lighting - Okay, so I read in a magazine that this was THE place to look for lighting - any kind - any price. Any kind, I'm buying, but any price? See what you think.

Remodelista - My house is a disaster, so I'm always looking for ideas. This site is pretty cool.

Retail Me Not - A catalog of online coupons posted and reviewed by users. The coupons vary from sites like Polo to Amazon to Papajohns

SugarCasa - Decorating finds and goodies
