Yesterday was a better day. I was even able to make a couple pairs of earrings! This recovery process is just not a lot of fun, but I'm grateful that it's not worse than it is.
I found a local project called "Gee... You Will!" that provides prom dresses for girls who might otherwise not have a prom dress. They also lend dresses for graduations and other events. What good is a fancy dress without jewelry to go with it? SOOOOO in the next week or so, I hope to make some appropriate jewelry and send it to the "Gee... You Will!" ladies as my way of supporting what they're doing. (I'll try to remember to put a picture here before I send the jewelry.) I consider it a privilege to be involved in such a worthwhile project!
There is a big bead show in King of Prussia, PA this weekend. I would LOVE to go, but I'm not sure I'll be able. I do believe in the power of prayer, so we'll see. :)
What are you grateful for today?

Aaaaarrrrgh!
Cervical spine surgery last week (on the 20th) and so things have pretty much come to a temporary standstill. This recovery process is not a bit of fun - especially because I'm not able to make jewelry (yet). We have some things that I made before surgery, so we hope to be putting some more things up every day this week. Actually, Michael is doing all of the "putting up". I just point. :)
Typing hurts so I'm done for now, but I'll be back. (she said, hopefully)
Have a great Saturday!

Earrings! Earrings! Earrings!
Showcase tonight! I think I like the new sections for the jewelry showcase. We'll see! Our showcase tonight is for our other shop - TheEarringLady.
With a showcase coming, I've been making more earrings. In fact, I've been making SO many earrings, that poor Michael can't take pictures fast enough. The photography process is very tedious - or so it seems. I just hand things to Michael and the pictures show up. Not tedious for ME at all! :)
It was 75 degrees here the other day, so we took the day off and went to the shore (Wildwood, NJ) for the day with my son and his family to do our part to open the shore season. That put me in SUCH a "beachy" mood that I had to add a new section to TheEarringLady shop called "Sea you at the shore". Cute, don't ya' think?

The Duhks!
Oh yeah! Easter was wonderful but busy! We visited with 2 of my 3 sons and their families. Easter dinner at my middle son's house - sooooo good!!! And then - off to Philadelphia to World Cafe Live for a concert with The Duhks! Absolutely amazing!!!!
Michael was not enthused about going to see a band with 1 guitar, a banjo, drums, a fiddle and a vocalist, but WOW! The sound grabbed you from the first note. It DOES pay to hire a soundman! The Duhks are a young band from Winnipeg with music that is hard to put into a genre.
Tania Elizabeth has to be one of, if not THE best violin/fiddle player we've ever seen. It was worth twice the price of the tickets just to see her! If you get a chance to see this band, don't pass it up! I'm still tapping my toes.
The harmonies were soooo tight and the musicianship was spectacular. One review described them this way: "Celtic fiddles, Irish reels, old-time banjo, gospel vocals, and Latin percussion forge a common spirit within the uncommonly vibrant fusion of the Duhks ". Add a little cajun music to that, and you almost have it!

Little pink boxes - for you and me
Okay... so - a little poetic license! (I don't think John Mellencamp will mind.)
We got new boxes today and they are soooo pretty! I wanted something girly and fun and that's exactly what we got! Here's a picture of the box - no label or ribbon. I couldn't wait. I was too excited. I guess I'll have to go back and do that another day!
This has been a busy couple of weeks. I've been having about a million medical tests which has SERIOUSLY interfered with my jewelry-making and blog-posting and forum-visiting life! One more test tomorrow and then I'm hoping I'll be done for a while.
Pretty, pretty pink! LOVE it!

Time Out
We took a break from playing with jewelry the other night and went to see Raul Malo (formerly of the Mavericks) at the Keswick Theatre outside of Philadelphia. GREAT show! We had seats in the front row, so we had to take a couple of pictures.
And as you can see, there are MORE advantages to being in the front row. :)
The band was absolutely amazing! Incredibly talented musicians! And Raul? That voice! Awesome!!
For those who like guitars, it was fascinating to see the vintage guitars that he had with him. Raul (we're on a first-name basis now *wink*) opened the show with a 1964 Fender Jaguar. He had a 12-string Paul Reed Smith and a gorgeous, old orange Gretsch among other things. Michael (who is a wonderful guitarist) was in guitar heaven!

We had a wonderful time, as usual! There is nothing quite like music to dispel the clouds from your life.
So good! So good!

They say that help is at the end of your arm.
Or in the case of Etsy, at the end of your fingers - in the forums.
Michael was hanging out in the forums the other day and someone was offering to help with pictures. SO, since he's our official picture-taker, he took her up on her offer and asked her to look at ThunderMoonCreations.

He called me at work to say that this helpful lady mentioned our citrine bracelet and asked him "Why would you do THAT to that bracelet????" Well, I checked and that wasn't exactly what she said.. but... well... kinda. SO... he was a little huffy when he got her reply, but he tried what she suggested (because, after all, he DID ask for her opinion). AND... he was thrilled with the results. She was "spot on" about that particular bracelet. (He's not giving her more than that at the moment, but he'll be better tomorrow.)
So this is what we ended up with:
WAAAAAAAY better than what we had before!
I feel as though we learn something new every day!
